Optic neuritis sufferers can give birth normally

Before getting married, I was convicted of suffering from optic neuritis. I have done medical procedures and have been hospitalized. The progress is getting better. Before I could not see and now I can even though it is not normal. I will soon give birth to my first child. Is there a possibility that I can give birth normally?

ANSWER

N til now there is no relationship between childbirth methods and optic neuritis. Research shows that labor by cesarean section (SC) does not reduce the rate of recurrence of optic neuritis. However, if your optic neuritis is caused by a disease such as multiple scleroses, it is known that women with multiple scleroses are more likely to give birth to SC. This is likely related to nerve and muscle disorders in the pelvic area that causes difficulty in straining strongly.

To date, there are no specific methods recommended for patients with optic neuritis. The choice of the childbirth method is fully adapted to the conditions of pregnancy and fetus during childbirth. Because of that you might - may be able to give birth normally. You must discuss with your obstetrician again for this problem.
